Yukiko Kojima is a native of Nagano in Japan. She received the Bachelor of Music in solo performance from McGill University where she was a student of Prof. Kyoko Hashimoto. She was given the Vladimir Elgart Award, Bruneau Prize, and Outstanding Achievement in Piano from McGill University. In 2007, she won the 2nd prize (no 1st prize was given) in the second Masters Piano Competition in Tokyo, which lead to her becoming a member of the All Nippon Players’ Association. She performs extensively in Japan, with a special dedication to the works of 20th century composers such as Bela Bartok, Iannis Xenakis, Nikolai Kapustin, and Chick Corea. In 2009, she performed Rachmaninoff’s 3rd piano concerto, and will perform his “Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini”, with Iida Symphony Orchestra in next season.
