Sofía Esparza was born in Pamplona (Spain) and commenced her harp studies at the Conservatory when she was eight, finalising them with a professional diploma in San Sebastián. At the age of 18 she started vocal studies and musical pedagogy. She obtained the highest qualifications and received the Extraordinary Prize on graduation in Voice at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Navarra. As a singer, instrumentalist and multi-talented musician, she went on to further studies in lyrical singing with great masters such as Alberto Zedda, Mariella Devia, Renato Bruson and Giulio Zappa. She extended her specialisation in vocal repertoire by forming part of the Accademia di alto perfezionamento Renato Bruson in Busseto, during the research and interpretation Master’s Degree in Lied and Spanish Song “Victoria de los Ángeles” at the ESMUC in Barcelona, and was awarded the “Fundación Victoria de los Ángeles” scholarship. At the same time, she took part in numerous international song competitions obtaining more than a dozen prizes. She was the only Spanish singer selected to participate in the 2019 edition of the Tenerife Opera (e)Studio.
She is particularly renowned for the beauty of her vocal timbre, the colour equality throughout her range and the soft delicacy of her vocal production. Despite her young age, Sofía has an extensive career as solo soprano, having performed in many of the most prestigious theatres in Spain and shared the stage with internationally famous singers including Plácido Domingo and Anna Pirozzi. Recognised as a promising figure on the international lyrical scene, she has broken out on the world stage to sing in great opera theatres in Italy and Georgia. She has taken up principal roles such as Adina and Nannetta and has succeeded in obtaining great public and critical acclaim.
