A dedicated instrumental ensemble, L’INSTANT DONNÉ stands out by virtue of its atypical structure. Working without a conductor to heighten the listening experience, we jointly decide on the artistic orientation as well as the fi nancial management, the organisation of rehearsals, concerts and tours. Founded in 2002 and located in Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis) in a vast studio, equipped with an extensive range of instruments that allows us to work in complete autonomy, the ensemble brings together a team of 11 people, including nine musicians. We also enjoy performing less recent works and drawing freely from the repertoire to compose contrasting programmes. We offer around 40 concerts per year and, since our beginnings, have performed in a number of countries on fi ve continents with as much pleasure on small stages as in internationally renowned venues. Since 2007, a strong commitment to the Festival d’Automne in Paris has led to numerous creations. We also collaborate with IRCAM and Radio France on a regular basis. Our concerts are frequently broadcast by leading European radio stations and we record for various French and European labels. Since 2017, the last Sunday of every month, at La Marbrerie in Montreuil, we have been holding free concerts with commentary. Dedicated to the idea of bringing music out of specialised settings, L’Instant Donné has undertaken numerous educational and cultural actions in a wide variety of environments. Finally, under the benevolent auspices of Georges Aperghis and in partnership with Radio-France, L’Instant Donné offers a free composition workshop that accompanies aspiring composers during a whole season. L’Instant Donné benefi ts from the support of the Ministry of Culture / DRAC Île-de-France under a three-year agreement, the Centre National de la Musique, SACEM (culture with private copyright) and SPEDIDAM.
